Wow another stunning place to visit in Olympic National Park. We saw antlered animals on the ridges driving up, tempted at every twist to stop the the car and get the camera for shots of the bay and beyond.
Eventually you are high enough up in the mountains for top quality Earth porn. In fact, I was browsing the Earth porn sub-reddit last night (no baby oil or tissues) and Hurricane Ridge photos were near the top of the page.
Etta and I hiked from the visitor’s center to the tip top of a rocky crest and watched a gargantuan cloud in slow motion as it rolled up the steep terrain, totally obscuring the land in its opaque egg-shell. There were multiple baby deer, and young adult deer, calmly feeding in the groves.
In the future, I see myself making a list of places to car hike. Hurricane Ridge (also featuring loads of actual hiking and outdoor stuff) will be in the top three.
Etta looks beautiful and city-ready as always. Bear, you look like a Pacific lumberjack.
