On the way out of Chicago we stopped at L’Patron for gringas: pork al pastor with juicy grilled pineapple sandwiched between thick, chewy corn tortillas.
Outside of Madison we pulled off at the Pine Cone, mentioned by Jane and Michael Stern in Roadfood, for a giant butter cookie frosted to look like a cow. The cream puffs were stale.
