Bridgeport Bakery

The day they finally repaved Archer Avenue, Raven and I ventured out to the bakery that’s .1 mile away from where I stay with Roly Poly cat also known as Rolls Polls. I can’t say I feel a whole lot safer knowing how this amazing place with all the delicious sweets and fresh baked breads in the world is just a tumble down the sidewalk. I did not take any photos of the Archer Avenue paving by the way because I was silently terrified of tumbling off the sidewalk and being flattened like the villain in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

You can tell the mettle of a bakery by the sugariness of their sugar cookies, and I have not tasted a more delicate Italian style sugar cookie anywhere in Chicago, maybe in my life itself. These cookies are beyond badass and delicious: they are a little dangerous. The loaf of rye bread was so fresh, really outstanding. Raven is excited to call in special orders for loaves of banana nut bread and zucchini bread. I was excited for the bakery and also to find there is a grocery slash package store next door, which I somehow didn’t know. David Tamarkin was excited (I told him through instagram) that they had on offer eight freshly baked varieties of coffee cakes.
