Midwestern Beaches

North Avenue Beach in Chicago

In preparation for the Chicago marathon on October 10, I ran a total of 24 miles during my visit. An 8 miler and a 16 miler. Both runs took me from Bucktown to the North Ave. Beach, where I picked up the Lakefront Trail.

Oval Beach in Saugatuck

Etta and I stayed a night in Saugatuck, on the far shore of Lake Michigan. The lake is a mysterious inland sea. We had a bodysurfing contest in the waves at Oval Beach.

  1. Lake Michigan!? Methinks the 3rdarm is an East Coast fish that needs the salted waters of the Atlantic to dip into and boogie board.
