I got to be part of the team representing 5 Rabanitos at the Instituto del Progresso Latino’s annual fundraiser, Alta Cocina. Chef Alfonso made an amazing smoked scallop topped with spicy citrus salsa.

I was in high gear because across the way Anselmo Ramirez (who I met for the first time that very night, introducing myself as Arturo La Cago) and his right hand were representing Ixcateco Grill, another newly opened Mexican restaurant in Chicago helmed by a former Bayless chef.

We got to stay for the dinner and to see Chef Andres receive an honor for his efforts to raise money for education for those who have a hard time paying. It was a great night and made me feel very inspired.
