Sunday, May 29- High energy holiday Sunday to end the week! Big initial push with a lot of walk-in’s. Sunday more-so than any other day we are seeing folks from the neighborhood walk in trying to enjoy a nice Sunday dinner. We felt that rush and it was great. We closed out the week with teamwork.
Mood Scale Appreciation 1: Chefs Lisa, Fred and Glenn deserve a mood scale appreciation. They saw that striped bass was not available in the number we required for the weekend and went out not once but every day this holiday weekend to different markets to ensure that we had our signature dish. In the end, the fish lasted all the way until the end of the second turn tonight, with only had one party impacted. It was 3 guests at the LB2 bar who were having the whole experience – bottle of Mexican wine, 4 raw bar dishes to start. We explained the difficulty with the supplier and told the story of our chefs heroics going to the markets every morning, and comped a scallop and cod al pastor for these guests. They were very understanding and went on to enjoy desserts and after dinner drinks.
Mood Scale Appreciation 2: Lanie and Leslie (Deann, accounting, and everyone involved with payroll this week) deserve a mood scale appreciation for working so long and hard to get the tip out formula right. We have not had a SINGLE Lena employee say anything negative about their paychecks this weekend. I know it was difficult but you all really came through on this: WELL DONE CHEFS.
Notable Guests: Chef Rudy Quezada. Jeff Witzig, and the fam, author of From Fear to Love. Linda Berg and Rafeal.
MVP: Brien, big night for the LB2 bar, with more guests enjoying more cocktails later than usual due to the holiday (and not having work) tomorrow. Not only did Brien sell almost as much as the LB1 bar single-handed, he was able to give great service all night because of his open communication with managers and support staff, calling for back up when needed.
Appreciation: Matt Morin, thank you for stepping up when Kevin went home feeling lightheaded, and taking great care of the LB1 dining room for the last turn of the night.
