We did it again, going right over the top of every other session and climbing up Skill Mountain to reach a new ledge. Friday Night there were six people in my room for a very intense DJ session that was broadcast to the whole world over the world wide web. I had to sit on the floor in the middle of everbody, abandoning my usual Captain’s Chair by the Recording Computer, in order to manage the various minds in the room and shephard them into a continous flow that resembled nothing so much as a flock of sheep running through consecutive misaligned gates. Chased by a fluffy faux-stuffed-animal-sweatshirt donning Sheep Dog sitting on the floor with all the bones.
We had the variable-speed Professional Grade turntable plugged into Analog One and my Monoman-issued Technics Quartz Direct Drive Automatic Turntable System SL-0200 plugged into Analog Two. Emerson and Genevieve were staying at my house for the night and they had a friend named Alex over, in addition to me, Eliot & Christina on the three channels. Emerson had his laptop teeming with international dance music and a beats-per-minute matching program on Digital One. Digital Two was left open so that it could be used to playback from the Recording Computer. The main signal was dual – to the Recording Computer’s disk and then to the Ok Public server and out to the world – and to my Dubbing Continous Sounddesign Reciever for live playback in the studio.
The 3rd Channel
Eliot had his laptop plugged via converted 1/8 inch into the mixer’s microphone jack to manipulate all tracks via the 3rd Channel, which he had opened by analog means a couple weeks prior. This digital jack into the 3rdchannel was huge because it provided ultimate control over the filter. Using Winamp Plugins and the world wide web of wild sounds as well as the Bizamp Live internet shoutcast, which because of the spread of the data was time-delayed, he weaved a marvelous tapestry of back tracking unlike anything heard before. This breakthrough is all about the future for the chips, because its no gamble.
Like a sheepdog I sat on the floor and commanded the cueing of the queue. Alex did a lot of voiceover and I managed to get him to use the phrase “3rdarm.biz’ in almost every soundbite, except “I have never been on TV before.” Christina played a few nice trax and also did the introduction to the recording session. Genevieve wrapped up the session with a reading from Harper’s fiction about a man who loses his head over a bag of Doritos.
This was a hot session. Apologies for the lack of a heads-up. But we will be back like the soft machine with new players. Skill Mountain is high but our rope is the silver thread that describes the journey.

Alex was quite fond of my nuts.
He seemed very enthusiastic about promoting 3rdarm.biz!
