Day of the Dead

big churros 3rdarm

I woke up this morning to a message from my LinkedIn account telling me Frank Kimball had passed away. He was a big time Chicago attorney. We met last year in Inman Square; I waited on him at East Coast Grill. In that one, brief meeting he made a great pitch for why I should move, saying that Chicago was an ancient Indian word meaning, “New York without the assholes.” He told me he ate dinner at Frontera Grill once a week and would act as a reference. I never used the connection, but for some reason I held onto his business card, carrying it around in my wallet. The memorials I have read remember Frank as a great man, who mentored many young lawyers. And one young street lawyer.
