Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary is a top notch photography spot in the city.

I call it the “Magic Hedge,” because I imagine that’s truer to the real name of the place in the many strange languages of birds.

The Magic Hedge is the expanse of wild nature, emphasis wild nature, in an otherwise rolling sea of concrete industry.

The birds see it, and the human photographers flock to it as well.

My favorite time to visit is in the fall, after daylight savings time ends, when its still possible to catch an odd ray of sunlight or reaching sprout, amidst the browning ruins of warmer seasons.

These too will be snuffed out, except inside the camera where there is the potential, perhaps, for some sort of immortality.
