Friday night began with big concerns about the AC for all of 900, which made for a big relief when all systems were a go by 6PM. Smooth sailing through what could have been a scorcha.
Mood Scale: With temps reaching 100 for the first time this year, we were all worried about the AC’s first big test. Chefs Hector, Lisa and Fred had Seco in the building, who managed to increase the AC output to 100 percent power. In the meantime, we had started seating guests for dinner service. I went around and apologized, explaining the situation and offering kolddraft ice cubes for guests water. Leslie followed with origami fans that the hosts helped her fold for all our early guests. Finally, as the AC started to kick in, Lanie came around with a crushed ice chamoynada for each early guest. This managerial triple touch (and of course big thanks to the chefs for resolving the AC issue so fast!) showed all our early dinner guests how much we care.
Shout out: Malcolm had a table that came in at a 2, didn’t see anything recognizable on the menu, and almost turned right around and dined at another restaurant. Malcolm managed to keep them at the table, first by offering a taste of guacamole, and then slowly won them over and turned them into a 10. It was pretty magical way to go Malcolm!
MVP: Chef Hector and his team at SECO for saving the day!
Tom Skilling says… wicked hot Saturday followed first by a dip in the lake, and then a dip in temps.
