Wintry Mix: Darren, Jennifer, “Beautiful Matt” — March 9, 2022

ULC Logbook, Wednesday, March 9th, 2022:

We started with 65 covers in the afternoon. Despite the all-day precipitation in the form of wintry mix, only one party cancelled. Two parties joined as walk-in’s for the first seating: there was additional movement from existing reservations who added to their guest counts. We finished with 73 covers.

We did not have any orders for takeout.

For BA’s, we were joined by: Paul G. (party of 2, tbl. 4); Ravi D. (party of 4, tbl. 17); Jeff L. (party of 5, tbl. 5); M. F. / NuVasive (RALC party of 14, tbl. 33+); Dimitro M. (party of 5, tbl. 26); Matthew B. (former ULC server, circa 2003, friendly with R. I., whom, when he worked here, was known by the nickname, “Beautiful Matt,” party of 5, tbl. 3); Ken R. (party of 4, tbl. 22).

L. G. (party of two young ladies who dined at ULC for the first time to celebrate one of the guests’ birthday) shared many positive comments after their dinner. The birthday celebrant said her lobster was perfectly cooked. Ms. G. commented that A. / P. / Chef T.’s presentation of their birthday carrot cake from Claire’s, with caramel on the side and additional birthday flourishes, far exceeded her hopes / expectations. The G.’s party thanked the entire team for a wonderful first experience at ULC!

D. trained with N. on the floor at the beginning of service: they went over table numbers, position numbers, and MDR service etiquette.

P. trained with A. as a server.

We served 10 of Chef’s tasting menus: all 10 had reserved for the tasting menu experience on OpenTable.

I was introduced to J., who will be (re)joining the front desk team, starting this Saturday: a superb addition to the team!

Forecast for Thursday: mostly cloudy with much less precipitation, if any at all. High of 50F.
