ULC Logbook, Tuesday, November 15, 2022:
We started with 63 covers (the total does not include the Ballroom). Three parties cancelled, for a total loss of 8 covers. We were joined by the following walk-in parties: 2 at 5PM; 8 at 5:40PM (drinks and apps only, in the Clubroom); 1 at 5:45PM; 1 at 6:05PM (dinner in the Clubroom); 3 at 7:30PM (dinner at the bar). We finished 72 guests (the total does not include the Ballroom).
We had three orders for takeout: Yale’s honorable Professor B, placed by web; an order for two entrees, placed in person; an order for an entree with two sides, placed by phone.
For BA’s, we were joined by: Dr. EF, YNHH (party of 5, tbl. 13); Dr. RF, Yale medicine (party of 6, tbl. 5); Daryl G (solo, tbl. 14); Linda H (party of 2, tbl. 27); Chef G.’s in-laws, the H’s, celebrating their 25h wedding anniversary (party of 2, tbl. 4); Marie R (party of 2, at the bar); Chef G.’s friend since childhood, Patrick W (party of 3, tbl. 11); Salima A (party of 2, tbl. 22); Bettylou B (party of 6, tbl. 16); Matthew B (party of 8, tbl. 30); Vincent F (party of 2, tbl. 6); an owner of Shell and Bones restaurant (party of 3, dinner at the bar).
In the Ballroom, we were joined by 30-35 guests from the University of New Haven, hosted by Marcus P.
Linda H’s husband (party of 2, tbl. 27, served by N) arranged for a violinist to serenade their dinner table tonight. The contracted musician was excellent, and is locally available for future requests — Sandro Lado (@Downbowdro on Instagram). For Mrs. H’s 80th birthday, she requested a beautiful piece by a Soviet composer, Dmitri Shostakovich. Ten years ago, Mrs. H had also enjoyed a serenade at the ULC, to celebrate her 70th birthday. After their dinner, the H’s were aglow with happiness. Mr. H thanked the entire team, and commented: “It was WONDERFUL.” Bravo to N, Chef G., Chef J., RT, CF, Chef W., Chef T., Sandro Lado on the strings, and the entire team!

Lunches are returning!
Beginning with December 2nd and December 3rd, lunches will be served every Friday and Saturday, from 11:30AM to 2:30PM.
For anyone who is unable to work lunches on Fridays and Saturdays, due to any potential scheduling conflicts, please inform R in person.
Unless R is otherwise informed, he will be scheduling all staff to work lunches.
