321st Yale Commencement — May 22 – 23, 2022

ULC Logbook, Sunday, May 22nd, 2022:

We started with 210 covers. There was attrition to the total by way of parties who joined us with less than the number of guests reserved for: there were no cancellations tonight. We were joined by the following walk-in parties at the bar (none of which are included in the total guest count): former ULC busser P. at the bar at 5PM; 3 for dessert at 7:25PM; 3 French speakers at 8PM; a solo gentleman at 9PM. We finished with 187 guests.

For BA’s, we were joined by S. D. P. (party of 12, tbl. 22, from 3PM to after 5PM); Deborah H. (party of 4, tbl. 26); Sarid D. (party of 4, tbl. 9); Gloria N. (party of 8, tbl. 34+); Maggie X. For lunch on Sunday, we served 121 guests.

Allison S. (party of 5, tbl. 29, served by A.) had a memorial dinner for their family’s recently passed 90-year-old matriarch. After dinner, Ms. S. commented: “Thank you for accommodating our party at an earlier time. Everything was absolutely wonderful. The experience of dining at the Union League Cafe always makes us feel special.” Bravo A., Chef and team!

Monday: partly cloudy, high of 78F. Tuesday: partly sunny, cooler, high of 68F.

ULC Logbook, Monday, May 23rd, 2022:

We started with 216 covers. We had 2 same-day cancellations (R. is aware): a party of 6 reserved for 5:30PM; a party of 12 reserved for 8PM. While we did not have walk-in parties for these tables, we were able to re-configure the space and timing of existing reservations in order to accommodate multiple requests for an earlier seating time, which made those guests happy. We finished with 189 guests.

For BA’s, we were joined by: Kim D. (party of 7, tbl. 6+); Randi H. (party of 6, tbl. 34+); Patricia G. (party of 9, tbl. 18+); Christopher E. (party of 9, tbl. 22+); Ryan S. (party of 4, tbl. 24); Mark W. (party of 6, tbl. 17); Bruce A. (party of 9, tbl. 14); Emma M. (party of 7, tbl. 29); Kim P. (party of 6, tbl. 12); H. TJ (party of 5, tbl. 26); Ignacia M. (party of 8, tbl. 1+); Elizabeth S. (party of 6, tbl. 3); Maris T. (party of 9, tbl. 5); Christina R. (party of 12, tbl. 31+); Jose S. (party of 6, tbl. 34+); Samantha A. (party of 5, tbl. 16); Suzanne L. (party of 7, tbl. 30); Dan F. (party of 6, tbl. 6); Maggie D. (party of 3, tbl. 37); Diane S. (party of 7, tbl. 22+); Kevin L. (party of 4, tbl. 28); David C. (party of 6, tbl. 14+); Iyala A. (party of 7, tbl. 17).

In the Ballroom, we were joined by approx. 100 guests from the Yale Economics Department, hosted by BA M. B..

Ignacia M. (party of 8, tbl. 1+, served by D.) commented: “It was spectacular! The service was fantastic. I have a full heart.” Bravo Chef, D., and the entire ULC team on a successful 321st Yale Commencement!

J.-M. M., R. and S. called out due to positive Covid tests.

Slightly cooler for Tuesday, with Commencement season ending, and patio season commencing (see what I did there?)
