Table 10, a youngish (but over 21 for sure!) couple, had a rompope to start and loved it so much they ordered a second with their churros. I told the story of my first taste of rompope.
This was back when I was a Xoco server. Azucena brought in vanilla puddings she had made in plastic cups. She poured a little store-bought rompope over the top of the puddings. I don’t drink, but I will make exceptions for sweets, and I was hooked.
Now we serve Jonathan Huante’s (Azucena’s son) recipe for rompope every year around the holidays. Azucena started a Xoco tradition!
