“Poisson d’Avril” — April 1, 2022

ULC Logbook, Friday, April 1st, 2022:

We started with 112 covers in the afternoon. The first half of the night was slower, reservation-wise. By 6PM, we had been joined by 4 guests at the bar, and two walk-in parties of 2. There were many changes to existing reservations, and a higher number than usual of cancellations, perhaps in part due to the many first-timers coming to join us for Restaurant Week. We more than made up for the attrition with same-day reservations in the second half of the night. We finished with 117 guests.

We had three takeout orders: BA Mr. B., by web; Ms. S., by web; and BA Berri N., placed by phone.

For BA’s, we were joined by: Chef D. B., owner of a restaurant at Foxwoods (party of 2, tbl. 4); Eleanor S. (party of 7, tbl. 17) dining in remembrance of Ms. S.’s deceased husband’s birthday as ULC had been his favorite restaurant; Shep and Jennifer S. (party of 2, tbl. 1); Connor L. (party of 2, tbl. 14); Liza and Mossimo D. (party of 2, tbl. 26).

Jeanne S. (party of 2, tbl. 6, served by J.) joined us for a dinner in celebration of Ms. S.’s retirement. The S.’s commented that the service, cuisine, and ambiance were lovely and they will be joining us again soon. Bravo J., Chef and team!

One party of 2 noted interest for Restaurant Week in their reservation notes. Tonight, we served the Restaurant Week menu to 33 guests.

Saturday’s forecast (NOT an April Fool’s / “poisson d’avril”): sunny, high of 55F.
