Tiny Golden Airplane — April 13 – 14, 2022

ULC Logbook, Wednesday, April 13th, 2022:

We started with 61 covers in the afternoon. By 5:30PM, we were joined by a couple for dinner at the bar; we had another couple join us for drinks only around 7PM. There was very little movement with the reservation book. We finished with 63 guests.

There were 2 orders for takeout, both placed over the phone: BA Berri N. (order included 1 oz. of caviar!) dinner for 1; Anne D. (order included 2 entrees with apps and dessert.)

For BA’s, we were joined by: former busser Zach R. (party of 2, tbl. 15); ULC pastry commis Marcel A. (party of 4, tbl. 16); David D’. (party of, tbl. 17); Taylor P. (parry of 2, tbl. 8).

In the Ballroom, we were joined by approx. 27 guests for Yale Graduate School’s Prize Teaching Fellowship dinner; in the Sherman Room, we were joined by approx. 14 guests for Yale School of Management’s faculty dinner.

Don D. (party of 3, tbl. 11, served by John) commented to R. and me: “It was great gentlemen. It always is.” Mr. D. is a former member of the Maryland House of Delegates who now works in the aviation industry. Left behind on the floor beside his table was a tiny golden airplane, about the size one would find on a charm bracelet. Mr. D. is aware and he or one of his guests may stop by to retrieve this: it is labelled inside the lock box used for lost and found credit cards at the front desk.

C. called out.

Two parties of 2 reserved for the Chef’s tasting menu: tonight we served 6 Chef’s tasting menus — bravo to P. G. for selling the experience to another party of 2 at the table.

Thursday’s forecast is for scattered thunderstorms (60 percent chance of precipitation) with a high of 71F.
