ULC Logbook, Tuesday, August 9th, 2022:
We started with 59 covers. At 2PM, due to greater than 50% chance of precipitation for the dinner hours, we decided to close the patio. No parties cancelled. We were joined by the following walk-in parties: 4 at 5:15PM; 1 at 5:45PM (Champagne and gift card only); 2 at 5:55PM (drinks only; Clubroom); 2 at 7:05PM; 2 at 7:30PM (bar). We finished with 66 guests (the total does not include the parties in the Sherman Room or the Ballroom).
We had two orders for takeout: a custom Feuillentine cake for 6 guests, picked up by Anne B.; an order for T., placed by web.
For BA’s, we were joined by: Susan H. (party of 2, tbl. 6); Deborah P., celebrating 25th anniversary (party of 2, tbl. 4); Feimei L. (party of 6, tbl. 5); Jeffrey L. (party of 5, tbl. 3); Jessica K. (party of 7, tbl. 30); Kholoud E. (party of 5, tbl. 31).
In the Ballroom, we were joined by approx. 35 guests from Yale School of Medicine’s Chêrevert Brain Tumor Center. In the Sherman Room, we were joined by approx. 24 guests from the Yale President’s Public Service Fellowship.
After having finished with dinner, a guest from the Ballroom party commented: “Everything was so delicious! We had a great time.” Bravo to S., J. D., Da., Chefs, and the entire banquets team!
Kudos to Chef G. for going above and beyond by creating on-the-fly a multi-course tasting menu for a party of 7 (including 2 vegetarians!) — bravo Chef!
At the table, I overheard Peter J. (party of 4, tbl. 13, spent over $500. on two bottles of wine) say to R.: “We love your attitude R.: you are the best!” After their dinner was finished, in the privacy of the vestibule, the gentleman confided in me: “R. is one of the greatest servers I’ve ever had, and I’ve dined all around the world.” Bravo to R. (and R.!) for the awesome Burgundy sales, and bravo to R. for being the best!
J. has called out for this entire week, due to an ankle injury.
Tonight’s MVP, in my book at least, was the support squad of E., M., and M., whose seamless teamwork streamlined our smooth service.
Please BA that due to a technical issue with OT messaging, perhaps related to WiFi / the humidity, confirmation of this week’s reservations is delayed until tomorrow.
Heatwave wrapping up! Wednesday: showers; high of 83F; 50% chance of precipitation. Thursday: scattered thunderstorms; high of 83F; 60% chance of precipitation.
