ULC Logbook, Saturday, April 30th, 2022:
We started with 123 covers. There was again big energy in the Chapel Street Historic District, as evidenced by the many walk-in guests who wanted to join us, especially in the first half of the night. One party of 4 cancelled, due to Covid: R. is aware. In replacement, we welcomed two tables of 2. There were many large parties, many BA’s, no takeout, and a history talk about George Washington’s visit in 1775. We finished with 124 guests.
For BA’s, we were joined by: Gilles T. (party of 4, tbl. 11); Steve T., with parents celebrating their 50th anniversary (party of 4, tbl. 26); Elliot S. (party of 2, tbl. 17); Lucille F. (party of 12, tbl. 18+); Joan D. (party of 1, tbl. 2); The B.’s, celebrating their 40th anniversary (party of 2, tbl. 6); Sam G. (party of 4, tbl. 16); Jeff L. (party of 2, tbl. 27); Martha C. (party of 10, tbl. 31+); Allison K. (party of 8, tbl. 30); Joel A., loved their specially ordered bouillabaise (party of 4, tbl. 29); Elaine L. (party of 2, tbl. 14); Albert T. (party of 2, tbl. 10); Manuel G. (party of 10, tbl. 22+).
In the Ballroom, we were joined by approx. 50 guests from the Southern Surgeons’ Club, who were treated to the Whiffenpoofs’ acapella, followed by Arthur’s history talk.
Sam G. and his wife brought friends from out of town here for dinner specifically due to our reputation for excellence in the field of duck. Three of the four guests in their party ordered the Duck A L’Orange, which they reportedly LOVED (with extra crispy skin). Bravo Chef, D. and team!
The warm-up continues into Sunday: mostly sunny, high of 65F. Showers on Monday, high of 55F.
